Beacon Community Services Thrift Shops celebrated their 30th anniversary in July 2012. Our thrift shops have helped to fund essential community services and programs.

We now offer an United Way funded RETAIL TRAINING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM at our Pandora Avenue Thrift Shop. This free program provides eight weeks of hands on training in a real world retail setting. The program is open to anyone interested in learning retail skills and there is no experience necessary. For more information, call Trish at 250-388-3500.

The Cashier Training Course is designed for individuals with past work experience, or those who are new to Canada, who require cashier skills for their resumes. The individuals learn how to operate a cash register and point-of-sale machine, customer service skills, and safe workplace practices.

The course is free of charge and funded by the United Way of Greater Victoria. Please contact the Pandora Thrift Shop at 250-388-3500 for more information.

Once again, our Sidney and Brentwood Bay Thrift Shops have been the voted the Saanich Peninsula's Favourite Thrift / Consignment Shops in the 2014 Peninsula News Review Readers Choice Awards, as we have been for the last 9 years running.

In April 2009, the service was honored with a Crystal Award for Business Excellence, presented by the Saanich Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. The community’s positive response and its consistent generosity — from the volunteers who operate the Thrift Shops and donors who supply the stock, to our loyal customer base — has meant the difference to thousands of people in need.

Check out our 2676 Quadra Street location where we are now able to sell furniture. Our downtown thrift shop at 715 Pandora Avenue, operated in partnership with Victoria Cool Aid Society, continues to offer a great selection of clothes, books, and plenty of treasures.
