SHOAL Membership
Become a SHOAL Member! For a fee of $45 per year (just 12 cents per day), you will be entitled to:

Bursary Memberships
A limited number of bursaries have been made available by the Sidney-by-the-Sea Rotary Club to seniors who wish to purchase a SHOAL Centre Membership, but are unable to due to financial reasons. If your gross annual income from all sources is $25,000 or less, you qualify. This program is handled confidentially, and your name will not be released. Contact the SHOAL Centre Manager if you are interested.
Special Events
If you are looking for an evening out, join us at An Evening At The SHOAL on the 4th Thursday of each month (excluding July, August). The evening includes a delicious buffet dinner and entertainment.

Volunteer Opportunities
Consider sharing your time and talents as a volunteer. Our Volunteer Services Coordinator can help you find an opportunity that fits with your time and interests and brings you as much joy as you will bring to others. Many opportunities exist within SHOAL Centre or with vital community services such as volunteer driving, friendly visits, senior peer counselling, income tax preparation, in thrift shops and much more. Youth Employment Program
YEP is a community-sponsored program that provides youth with opportunities for training, work and volunteer experiences that support future successful careers. Find out more on our Youth Employment page.

In 2010 we also partnered with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and the Yukon to offer free heart monitoring and cardiac eduation clinics through the Take the Pressure Down program.
The Tides at SHOAL Dining Room
Our dining room, The Tides at SHOAL, is open daily from 11:30am-1pm for lunch and 4:30-6pm for dinner. Come and enjoy the daily specials that Chef Russ and crew have prepared. If lighter fare is what you have in mind, drop by the Tuck Shop and delight in a freshly baked muffin, cookie or scone and coffee or tea.

Meal cards are a convenient and cost-effective way for you to enjoy lunch or dinner in the SHOAL Dining Room. Each meal includes a choice of one main course, tea or coffee and dessert. All prices include HST.

Facility Rental at SHOAL Centre

SHOAL Centre Assisted Living
SHOAL Centre provides a Registered Assisted Living setting where seniors and people with disabilities can obtain all the necessary supports to maintain an independent daily life. Operated in conjunction with the Vancouver Island Health Authority, SHOAL Centre provides assistance with daily care, meals, housekeeping, laundry and activities.
