13th Annual Hearts of the Community Volunteer Awards

The 2011 Hearts of the Community Volunteer Awards were a great success, thanks to the oustanding nominees and a community that comes together every year to honour volunteers in the Saanich Peninsula Community.
"It was a heartwarming event, filled with community spirit and a strong appreciation for the diverse services that volunteers provide every day," says Beacon Community Services CEO Isobel Mackenzie, extending congratulations to all award nominees. "Today we particularly recognized 22 volunteers and awarded six, but thanks is due to each and every community volunteer. We all benefit from their selfless dedication to others."
This year's event was held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Mary
Winspear Centre, Sidney. The awards ceremony and luncheon honours all the nominees and awards one recipient in each of six categories: Service to Seniors, Service to Families and Children, Overall Service to the Community, Outstanding Youth Volunteer, Community Service or Project by a Group, and Lifetime Service Award. It is a free event that is open to the public.
