  • Brentwood House and Sluggett House provide a model of care for people living with dementia that honors the individual and is practical and affordable; where residents pay according to their income.
  • They offer a community living option for people with dementia who are able to walk independently but can no longer live safely in their home or assisted living site, and who require additional security features and 24 hour care.
  • Brentwood House and Sluggett House are designed to provide an environment of safety, security, independence and freedom of movement for people with dementia, in a small family-style home with private rooms with en-suite bathrooms.
  • Home cooked meals are prepared in the house kitchen and served family style in a bright, attractive dining room.
  • Our model of care respects residents for who they are and who they have been in their life. It allows residents to make choices about social interactions and activities that reinforce their sense of dignity and emphasize their abilities rather than their losses.
  • Staff are selected and trained to provide a compassionate approach to care. They encourage residents to pursue their own choice of activities, and seek opportunities to express caring and facilitate joy.
  • To find out if you qualify for dementia housing, contact your VIHA Case Manager, or the VIHA Access Line (250-388-2273 or toll free 1-888-533-2273) if you do not have a Case Manager.
